Course Description
This course is intended for intermediate students and those who already have some grasp of textual learning and Rashi skills. The object of this course is to advance students' skills in both grammar and textual learning for independent study. In this course you will learn more about how to uncover the roots of Hebrew words, learn vowel patterns, word constructions, vocabulary, and grammar fundamentals. The course of study brings the learning of Hebrew texts down to a rudimentary level in an exciting and simple to understand way, enabling the student to easily grasp the mechanics of the language. The method will show how the language can be broken down, making it user-friendly, fun, and accessible to the student. .

Moving on in the Rashi and Reinforcing Skills

Dear Students,

Not seeing your response  to my questions was a bit challenging. I have some questions for you re: class. Are you finding the worksheets helpful to map the Rashi. Is it to easy or to challenging. Your feedback would be helpful.

I'm sending you 2 worksheets in two different formats. Please use both and see how helpful they are for you.

My goal for you is to understand Rashi's progression on his question. What are  the steps and clarifications he give us to bring  us to understanding what his questions are .

Good luck!

May all of you have a blessed  Shana Tova!!

Mapping Rashi

Dear Students,

It was great working on the text together. For next Sunday assignment I would appreciate you doing the following. Reread verse aleph:

1)Break verse into phrases using the cantillations marking we discussed

2) note the verbs by using your 4 questions (the verb nisa is harder to identifiy becase it doesn't have the helpful past tense suffixes and the future prefixes(eitan letters). Please look at sheet #3active structures  (binyanim)structure #2  to figure that one out

3) What questions can you come up with?

4)The main point of the Pasuk

Map Rashi Aleph using the following  questions to help you:

For those of you who find that at this point  spoting the verbs and breaking them down a challenge, read the Rashi in English and answer the questions. The questions are a step by step of the Rashi so answering them will show you the steps. For those of you with more Rashi experience read the Rashi in Hebrew and answer  at the appropriate places with the Hebrew words of the Rashi

The Bold print "Acher Hadevarim Haela" is what Rashi has a question on

How does Rashi translate the word "Devarim?-----------------

answer 1: Whose words are we referring to?---------------What did he say?-------------------

How did Hashesm answer the satan?-----------------------------------------

answer 2: The words of--------------- who said to Yitzchak---------------------

Yitzchok answer Yishmael's boasting?------------------------

How did these events lead to the test of the Akeida?------------------

The next bold print in Rashi aleph

Hineni-What does this expression connote?

an expression of ------------------------(write the words of the Rashi in both blanks in Hebrew or English)and-------------------------.

2) For Brownie points: Note as many verbs as you can in the Achar Hadevarim part of Rashi and write them down.

We Will go over everything in class and build skills step by step! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Please email me any questions  and clarifications that you may have.

I uploaded the Rashi question chart for those who would like to use it

Dear Students, I'm really excited to be working with you this zeman. Even though it's a short one, we will continue the work we have done together and for new students, we will begin our journey of textual skills together. I'm sending you grammar resource material to print and have available to make user friendly together. Please have a pens, stapler and highlighters on hand. We will take about 10-15minutes to work with the sheets and then we will work on the text which I'm sending you. Looking forward! Osnat Goldman
