Course Description

Students will study Megillat Rut (The Book of Ruth), read on Shavuot. The text of the Megilla is well known by many, yet misunderstood by most. The true meaning and details of the story are right there in the pesukim, yet they often get overlooked. This class will go beyond the basics to look at the real meaning of the pesukim and the fascinating background story encoded within them.

About Rabbi Yehoshua Geller
Rabbi Yehoshua Geller received Smicha from Rav Mordechai Elefant zt"l and the ITRI Yeshiva, where he was a Talmid for many years. He served as the Rosh Beit Medrash of the English Speakers' Program at the Jerusalem College of Technology/Machon Lev, Rabbi Geller has also taught at Yeshivat Yam HaTalmud and Yeshivat Hamivtar. Rabbi Geller holds an M.A. in Hebrew Studies.

We elaborated on the Naomi Ruth Orpah saga, where Naomi tries to convince them to stay in Moav.Ruth sticks with Naomi. Naomi is shocked when Orpah leaves. We learned the outcome of this leaving , which culminated in a big crash, and came to a head in the battle of their grandchildren- David and Goliath

It is the story of logic, emotions, truth, spirituality- the story of life.
