As we discussed in shiur, there are many opinions here and many scenerios. There are arguements of how to understand the shulchan Aruch and Rama.

Therefore, here is a concise summary of the halacha as we pasken it.

I thank those who brought to my attention that the summary was missing the topic of a knife cutting hot food.(e.g. a milk knife cutting hot meat)

I added that topic to the summary now version 4 , topic 10. To make it easier, I am adding that section here as well:

Topic 10) Knives

If one cut cold meat with a milk knife, please see above that as today knives are clean, all is fine. In the time of the Shulchan Aruch, knives were not clean and therefore, even if one cuts cold meat, they should remove the area where it cut.

If one cut hot meat with a milk knife, then:

If the knife is not ben yomo, it does not affect the meat (though you should kasher the knife).

If the knife is ben yomo, then all is forbidden, yet if there is 60 times the knife, then the meat is fine (though you should kasher the knife). There are opinions that even if there is 60 times the knife, one should still take a sliver off the area where the knife cut, but there are lenient opinions that do not require that.

If there are any mistakes, ambiguities etc., please contact me.

Please email the attached test back to me at geller@g.jct.ac.il.

The test is opened source as the previous one.
