Hilchot Nidda (Men’s Track)

This course is intended for men. We will begin with a few lectures defining the basic concepts and terminology of the laws of family purity. During these introductory lectures, I will summarize the basic sources that will appear on the blackboard but we will not study the sources word by word. The body of the course will consist of a careful, word-by-word study of the principle texts from the Mishna, Talmud, Rishonim, and modern authorities on the laws of family purity that apply today. We will follow the order of the Shulchan Aruch, beginning with the separation between husband and wife at certain times of the month (פרישה) and ending with the process of purification (מקווה). In order to complete all the material, I will cover certain topics by summarizing the sources instead of analyzing them in depth. We will study the primary texts in Hebrew. In class we will translate and explain them. REGISTRATION FOR THIS COURSE IS OPEN ONLY TO ACCEPTED APPLICANTS TO THE WEBYESHIVA.ORG HALACHA MASTERY PROGRAM. We'll start with foods, which are prohibited by the Torah, which by Chazal, move to mixtures and how those are or aren't affected by the presence of prohibited foods, and go from there to pots, pans, and other food-handling utensils, to see what makes them usable or not in a kosher home.   To apply to join this course, please click here.
