GENERAL

For a general overview of how to use WebYeshiva.org, including signing up for courses, participating in classes, etc., please click here to download the student manual.

Q: What equipment do I need to use WebYeshiva.org?

A: Minimally, you need a computer which is connected to the internet with a high speed connection (DSL, ADSL, Cable, Fiber Optics), with speakers or headphones.

Q: Are WebYeshiva.org shiurim recorded or live?

A: All WebYeshiva.org shiurim are Torah classes given live by teachers located in Israel and around the world, and broadcast via the Internet. Classes are taught to WebYeshiva students in real time, so they can answer your questions and interact with you directly. Additionally, the classes are recorded and posted on the course pages for your review.

Q: How much does WebYeshiva.org cost?  Can I get a scholarship?

A: WebYeshiva.org is a free, online, interactive yeshiva.  All classes are complimentary, unless specified otherwise (usually on class course page).

Q:  I have never learned in Yeshiva and I can't read Hebrew. Are there any classes for me?

A: WebYeshiva.org offers classes for students at all skill levels. You can consult a WebYeshiva.org staff member to find the classes most suitable for your learning level. To contact a WebYeshiva representative click here

Q: When does WebYeshiva.org start and end?

A: Winter Semester 5773October 21 - December 21, 2012.

You can join any of the shiurim at any time throughout the semester.

SIGNING UP

Q: I don't have an account. How do I join WebYeshiva.org??

A: Click here to register for WebYeshiva. Once you are registered, you can add any classes in which you wish to enroll. To view the shiurim offered by WebYeshiva click here.

Q: I signed up but I cannot log in.

A: Use the email account that you registered with. If you forgot your password click here.  If this does not work, please contact the WebYeshiva office at office@webyeshiva.org.  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots so you need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Q: Who can join WebYeshiva?

A: While WebYeshiva welcomes Jews of all backgrounds and affiliations, it is an Orthodox institution governed in accordance with Jewish law. If you have any questions with regard to your eligibility please contact us.


TECHNICAL QUERIES

Q: Can I participate in classes via my mobile device such as my iPad, Tablet, iPhone, or Android?

A: Yes! WebYeshiva.org classes can now be accessed from truly anywhere! Here is how to do it: Make sure you download the free WebEx app (Click here for Android and click here for Apple devices).

Then, use the browser on your device to log in to www.WebYeshiva.org. Enter your class as usual. Choose the "Audio Internet" option to start the audio. Enjoy the class!

Q: I logged in, but the system does not show me that I am enrolled for a certain shiur I want to join. What should I do?

A: Check your Shiur Listings on My WebYeshiva. If the shiur you wish to enter is not listed, visit the shiurim page and add the class you want to join.

Q: Can I still see and follow a shiur if I don't have a webcam?

A: Absolutely! Follow the same instructions as everyone else. While the teacher and other students will not be able to see you, you can still see them and participate fully in the shiur.

Q: I don't have a microphone. Can I still participate in WebYeshiva?

A: Technically, yes. You will still be able to hear and see the shiur, but you will not be able to ask questions or interact fully in the classroom. 

Q: I am in a shiur but I cannot hear or speak.

A: Most likely, you are not yet part of the audio conference. To enable this capability click on the "communicate" pull down menu and select "integrated VOIP." Next, click on "join conference." This should allow you to hear and speak.  If this does not not help, please contact our technical support by clicking here.

Q: My teacher's sound was at times difficult to hear. Is it me or them?

A: The best way to tell is to try communicate with others in your shiur. If they can hear you without a problem, then the issue is most likely with the teacher. If you do not come through to others clearly, then the problem may be with your connection.

Q: Can my computer run other programs while I am signed in to WebYeshiva?

A: Yes, but Skype should be turned off during a shiur for your microphone to work consistently.

Q: I contacted tech-support but I have not heard back.

A: Technical support answers all received emails and calls as quickly as possible. During certain times, such as the start of a new semester, there is a high volume of requests and it may take a bit longer to get back to you. Feel free to send us a reminder email in case your first message has gone astray, and have patience that we will address your request as soon as we can!

 

ARCHIVES

Q: How do I get a copy of the source material that my teacher just used?

A: At the end of a shiur you will be asked if you want to save the source material to your computer. You can also find the source material posted on your class's main page. In addition, the source material is included in the archived shiurim.

Q: I missed a class. How can I access the archives? 

A: You can access the archives from your Dashboard Page or by going to the class's main page and click "Browse Archives,". It usually takes about 24 hours for a shiur to be added to the archive list. You may need to download the WebEx Network Player to access the video archives. The MP3 and MP4 files will be available for download within 72 hours following a class.

Q: Can I put an archive file on my Ipod?

A: WebYeshiva.org now offers all archives in MP3 format. Once you have downloaded the archive, you can transfer to it to your iPod or other MP3 player.

Q: How can I switch classes or sign up to hear the archives of a class I am not registered for?

A: Simply go to the shiurim page, staff page or schedule page and add the class(es) in which you want to enroll. If you are having any difficulties, contact us.
