Birkot Hashachar

Before the morning prayer of Shacharit is a special section of prayers called Birkot Hashachar. Some say it at home or early in the morning while others say at the synagogue with the community. Join Rabbi Dr. Stuart Fischman and explore how Birkot Hashachar developed and learn the relevant halachot.

Birkot Hashachar: Lesson
Class description

Hello Everyone

In these two shiurim we will discuss the opening blessings which we say everyday. We will see a teshuvah written in the Kovno Ghetto during the Holocaust period on the subject of the blessing שלא עשני עבד- “that You did not make me a slave.” I hope that studying this teshuvah will inspire us all.

Rabbi Dr. Stuart Fischman graduated from Yeshiva University in 1980 and the dental school of Columbia University in 1985. In 1989 he began studying and teaching at Yeshivat Hamivtar and now studies and teaches at Yeshivat Machanaim in Efrat. He has rabbinic ordination from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg.
