Halacha & Aggada: A Case Study

Halacha & Aggada: A Case Study

In this course with Rabbi Tzvi Sinensky we will examine the larger relationship between halachic and aggadic passages in the Talmud, arguing that the two reinforce one another in unexpected and fruitful ways. After considering the larger question of the relationship between them, we will analyze the interaction between halacha and aggada in the Talmudic passages that address the proper mechanisms for resolving halachic arguments and disputes that are litigated in beit din.
