Bereishit: The Emerging Jewish People
The Book of Genesis starts with two people and eventually follows the story of a family trying to survive through many trying experiences in order to become a nation. In this course join Rabbi Dr. Stuart Fischman as he explores the gradual emergence of the Jewish people through Sefer Bereishit. Some of the texts we will use include the אור החיים and שם משמואל and Rav Shimson Rephael Hirsch, each noteworthy for this topic as they teach the “big picture.”
Rabbi Dr. Stuart Fischman graduated from Yeshiva University in 1980 and the dental school of Columbia University in 1985. In 1989 he began studying and teaching at Yeshivat Hamivtar and now studies and teaches at Yeshivat Machanaim in Efrat. He has rabbinic ordination from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg.
